15 years ago I was just laid off from a corporate job after graduating college and thinking climbing the corporate ladder was the way to build a life of flexibility and have a great career.
I received a wild cold DM on Facebook and while I thought it was a robot, I chose to follow her and the one thing she did RIGHT was consistently post her story and her vision with her business…. That led me to trusting her and eventually I joined her business.
But I knew sending cold DM’s the way she did, was not the route to build something big and sustainable.
I sold wellness products for 13 years and made multiple six figures every year. I then went on to teach this system I created to other social sellers, coaches, realtors and digital product creators.
Instead of cold DM’s I opted to build a community – inside of a facebook group.
The thing that is so nice about Facebook Groups is they are searchable and set up for you to have sustainable success. This includes attracting NEW leads, the RIGHT leads into your world and converting them to customers.
I went on to make sales every single week. I built my team and the best part was they could do the same I was doing. It was a super simple process to follow.
The first thing you want to do is make sure you have a group with a searchable name, be specific and make sure the description is set up. The cover photo is what they will see first as well.
Second, what you want to do is tell people about your community. There are many ways to grow your community which we dive deeper into when you come into my world, but the most important thing is that you are telling people about it.
Once your community is up and running, and starting to grow the next step is to build trust with these new members. They are colder leads at this point, so they are interested in what you are offering but they are not ‘sold’ yet. And we all know nobody likes to be sold to, so your goal is to build trust through conversations and your content inside the community. FB Lives are another great way to build up trust quickly with these people coming into your world. I’d recommend going live 1-2X a week or more if you want.
The engagement is not something I heavily focus on because people are busy and don’t always have time to engage, but they are watching you. They are lurking. So, don’t stop showing up. The lurkers are the ones who buy!
The deals are always done in the DM’s. Every once in a while you will have someone see a post and decide to buy from you but typically this is going to happen with a conversation as they get to know you. A few simple things to do is welcome them into your community, get their email so you are growing your list on the back end and ask them a specific question based on what you sell… For example if it’s a health product – You would ask ‘Are you new to your health journey or have you been on it for a while?’ From there you can learn about their desires and determine if your product is the right fit for them.
I want to leave you today with an important note to make sure that you are CLEAR on what you are offering, who it’s for and what it can do for that person. When this part is CLEAR the rest is simple to implement.
The best part of this is as you grow the community, they see your content everyday. 60% of people SEE the content in the group vs 3% who see IG content.
1.8 Billion people are actively using Facebook Groups DAILY and of that 1.2 make purchases from the group. That is like the size of the country France, so do not sleep on creating a group and building it out as a community!
