  • Find Your Ideal Customer: Do This Before You Create Another Social Media Post

    Guest Post by Sarah Taylor

Tell me if this sounds familiar….

You put a lot of time into a social media post, trying to make it perfect and on trend, whatever that means this week. You post it, hoping for big results, but then you hear crickets. And you tell yourself social media marketing is a waste of time for a shop like yours.

    Been there, done that.

Here’s what a lot of marketing experts are going to tell you. Just post more and keep pushing out content, because the more you talk, the more they’ll listen.

Nope. That’s not it. And it’s also a one-way ticket to burnout, especially when you’re already running a shop, managing inventory, and wearing all the hats.

Here’s what most marketing coaches skip right over. Not everyone wants what you sell. That might be hard to hear, but it’s actually one of the best things you can learn as a product seller because it is going to make marketing so much easier.

You can post 10 times a day on every single social media platform, but if it’s not landing with your ideal customer, it’s a complete waste of your time that you don’t have to spare.

Before you type out one caption, before you even open that social media app, there is something you need to do that so many product sellers and shop owners overlook. You need to know your ideal customer inside and out.

And before you say, “Well, everyone is my customer,” go back and reread what I just said. Not everyone wants what you have to sell, and that’s actually a really good thing, I promise!

What you want to have in your business is an Ideal Customer Avatar, ICA for short. This is the person who loves what you sell, your brand, your messaging, all of it. Even big brands like Walmart and Target build their entire marketing strategies around their ICA, so I know it will work for you too.

The easiest way to find your ICA is to keep it simple. Grab a piece of paper and a pen, and start with what you sell. Think about your products and who they are truly meant for, the person who you see in your shop or chat with online. Think about past customers and the feedback they have given you, or the reviews they have left. Really pay attention to what they say about how they are going to use your product, how it makes them feel to buy it, and what they love about it and your business.

To make this easier, think about your favorite store, online or in person. Really think about what that experience feels like and what keeps you coming back. Now think about a store you never shop in, and why that is. Chances are, whatever they sell just doesn’t appeal to you, and that means you are not their ideal customer. But that favorite store of yours? They know what makes you tick, and they use that in their marketing. You were drawn in without even realizing it.

That’s exactly what we’re working toward, and here’s where it starts to get really fun.

Once you have your ideal customer written down and you’re dialed in on who they are, grab that piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side, write down every problem, desire, want, and need your ideal customer has. Something as simple as hunger or wanting their kitchen to smell good counts, so don’t overthink this. On the other side, write down every solution your products offer to those problems. Extra points if you write down the one thing you know you do better than anyone else.

Really taking the time to do this exercise, and continue to add to it throughout the year, will not only help you really get to know your customer, but you will NEVER have to wonder what to post again.

When you dive deep into who you help, how you help them, and what their benefit is, you will never stare at a blank screen again, wondering what to post. And if you repeat it for each quarter and the products tied to it, like holidays, you will be a content machine.

And here’s the part I really want you to hear: Your content does not have to look like everyone else’s to work. You don’t need the trending audio, or dancing around to a song, or worry about the perfect hooks. A lot of the advice flooding your social media feed right now was built for service providers and online coaches, and it just does not translate to a shop selling physical products. And, when they’re all chasing the same trends and tricks, their content all starts looking the same, which is the exact opposite of what we actually want.

Grabbing your phone and knowing exactly what to post, and watching it actually pull people into your shop or onto your website, is what can happen when you take the time to dive deep into your ICA and what they want and need.

Social media marketing isn’t about learning more trends or tricks. It’s about getting back to basics and understanding that what your customer wants to hear always comes before what you want to say. The retailers making the biggest sales aren’t the ones posting the most, they’re the ones who know exactly who they’re talking to before they ever hit post.

If you are ready to stop guessing and start posting with purpose, come hang out with me in The Business Balance, my free Facebook group where we talk about marketing and mindset for product-based business owners every single week.

  • Sell Your Products with a Facebook Group

    Guest Post by Lyndsi Weise

15 years ago I was just laid off from a corporate job after graduating college and thinking climbing the corporate ladder was the way to build a life of flexibility and have a great career.

I received a wild cold DM on Facebook and while I thought it was a robot, I chose to follow her and the one thing she did RIGHT was consistently post her story and her vision with her business…. That led me to trusting her and eventually I joined her business.

But I knew sending cold DM’s the way she did, was not the route to build something big and sustainable.

I sold wellness products for 13 years and made multiple six figures every year. I then went on to teach this system I created to other social sellers, coaches, realtors and digital product creators.

Instead of cold DM’s I opted to build a community – inside of a facebook group.

The thing that is so nice about Facebook Groups is they are searchable and set up for you to have sustainable success.  This includes attracting NEW leads, the RIGHT leads into your world and converting them to customers.

I went on to make sales every single week. I built my team and the best part was they could do the same I was doing. It was a super simple process to follow.

The first thing you want to do is make sure you have a group with a searchable name, be specific and make sure the description is set up. The cover photo is what they will see first as well.

Second, what you want to do is tell people about your community. There are many ways to grow your community which we dive deeper into when you come into my world, but the most important thing is that you are telling people about it.

Once your community is up and running, and starting to grow the next step is to build trust with these new members. They are colder leads at this point, so they are interested in what you are offering but they are not ‘sold’ yet. And we all know nobody likes to be sold to, so your goal is to build trust through conversations and your content inside the community. FB Lives are another great way to build up trust quickly with these people coming into your world. I’d recommend going live 1-2X a week or more if you want.

The engagement is not something I heavily focus on because people are busy and don’t always have time to engage, but they are watching you. They are lurking. So, don’t stop showing up. The lurkers are the ones who buy!

The deals are always done in the DM’s. Every once in a while you will have someone see a post and decide to buy from you but typically this is going to happen with a conversation as they get to know you. A few simple things to do is welcome them into your community, get their email so you are growing your list on the back end and ask them a specific question based on what you sell… For example if it’s a health product – You would ask ‘Are you new to your health journey or have you been on it for a while?’  From there you can learn about their desires and determine if your product is the right fit for them.

I want to leave you today with an important note to make sure that you are CLEAR on what you are offering, who it’s for and what it can do for that person. When this part is CLEAR the rest is simple to implement.

The best part of this is as you grow the community, they see your content everyday. 60% of people SEE the content in the group vs 3% who see IG content.

1.8 Billion people are actively using Facebook Groups DAILY and of that 1.2 make purchases from the group.   That is like the size of the country France, so do not sleep on creating a group and building it out as a community!

If you’d like to dive deeper on this and learn more – I am offering 1:1 Strategy Sessions for 90 min, we will map out your community and make sure it’s searchable for the right leads to come in. We will set it up together and make sure your email list is growing.

I will help you get 100 of the RIGHT leads into your group in 30 days.

You get my custom guide, a 1:1 call and week of voxer to ensure you are implementing and for any questions you have. You can sign up here.

  • Three Ways to Get Your Products in Front of New Potential Customers this February

February can feel like a weird month for product basd businesses, because that holiday rush is over and January was super quiet and you might have no idea what February is going to be like.  You might also find yourself wondering how you can get more people seeing your products so that they will actually buy.

To support you, in this blog post I’m sharing three easy ways to get more eyeballs on your products in February and beyond.

Even just implementing just one of these strategies will help you keep your products in front of the right people and build steady awareness that supports sales now and later.

    1. Create one piece of content that you can repurpose multiple ways!

Instead of chasing algorithm trends, make something your customers or affiliates want to repost.

    Examples:

    • “Things people don’t realize they need until they have this”
    • “My go-to product this month (and why)”
    • A simple photo + one honest sentence about the product

    Then:

    • Send that piece of content to your affiliates and ask them to share it with their audiences (and remind them to share it with their affiliate link to earn a little extra cash)
    • Share it in your stories so more of your IG followers see it and also share it as a post in your feed
    • Send it as an email to your community – February is when people start paying attention again after January’s reset energy, so now is a great time to get back in a regular rhythm of sending a weekly email.

    One good piece of content → shared multiple ways = more visibility and reach without adding tons more to your plate.  {And if you need help with this, you might find this helpful.}

    2. Partner With Affiliates for Valentine’s Week

February is a relationship-driven buying month, which makes it perfect for affiliate partnerships.

Instead of trying to post more yourself, let other people talk about your products for you.

    Ideas:

    • If you already have an affiliate program set up, ask 5–10 affiliates to share your product in their IG Stories or email list during Valentine’s week
    • Give them a simple angle: “A gift I’d actually want” or “Something I’m loving this month”
    • Pair it with a small incentive: bump up their commission for that week only or offer a limited-time bonus or freebie if they agree to promote during the week.

If you have 10 affiliates who share your products to their IG stories, and they each get 100 views, that’s 1000 new eyeballs checking out products.

Haven’t started your affiliate program yet? Use February to get your affiliate program set up – I’d love to help you with this!

    3. Book a spot inside the Product Seller Spotlight

As I’m prepping for the 2026 Product Seller Summit, I’ve been thinking a lot about how to make Summit week more than just learning.  I want it to be a week where product sellers are actively discovered and supported.

So during Summit week, I’ll be sending two emails featuring our Product Seller Spotlight. 🌟

I’ll be featuring 20 product sellers total, split across two spotlight emails (10 sellers per email) sent during Summit week to our 2000+ attendees.

What your Product Seller Spotlight includes:

    – A feature in one of two Summit-week spotlight emails

    – Visibility to 2,000+ Product Seller Summit attendees

    – A Facebook group post

    – A social media feature

Plus… there’s a bonus!   Everyone who signs up for a Product Seller Spotlight will receive a FREE VIP Ticket to the 2026 Product Seller Summit (value $27) when doors open at the end of March.

There are only 20 spots available, and once they’re filled, that’s it for this round.

Claim your Product Seller Spotlight here.

Important: This Spotlight is only for physical product sellers only.

Once you sign up, you’ll receive an email with a short intake form to fill out that is due by March 15, 2026.  Easy-peasy!

  • Why MRR (Master Resell Rights) is CRAP. ? (And what to do instead to make moolah online!) ?

Maybe you’ve seen the thousands of TikToks and Reels about MRR floating around online… (and if you haven’t, consider yourself lucky!)

MRR = Master Resell Rights, and basically it’s someone buying a “ready to sell course” for $X amount, then turning around and selling it for $X amount.

It’s kind of like a pyramid scheme… All you are doing is trying to sell this same course to other people so they can sell the same course to other people so they can… you get the point.

NO ONE actually uses the courses being sold {and that’s why no one will tell you the name of the course or what it helps you do}.  Doesn’t that feel a tad… scammy?

It’s get rich quick BS and in a few months you won’t hear anything about it because it’s not a sustainable way to make money long term.

If you are looking for a legit, long-term way to make money, I strongly urge you to consider affiliate marketing.

But not just posting our affiliate links and hoping someone buys.

Instead, become an affiliate for things you actually use and care about in your business.

With this strategy, you are making money in an ethical way, you aren’t scamming others, and you can feel good about what you are promoting!

I’d love to share with you the 3 strategies I use every month to earn extra income through promoting the things I am an affiliate for.

These are truly simple strategies that you can begin using today to earn extra income online.

Head over here to check out a little extra moolah. ?

Because there are legit ways to make extra income online that are sustainable.  MRR just isn’t one of them.
